A Day in the LifeAs an Ambient Field Technician, you’ll get hands‑on experience collecting data while spending most of your time outdoors in a hardhat rather than in a cubicle.
Compensation: $24 to $28 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills and geographic location.
Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation, deployment, testing/sampling of air monitoring activities.
- Independently and effectively assemble, operate, and troubleshoot ambient air testing equipment.
- Ensure project preparation is complete before going into the field; this includes preparation, cleaning procedures, repair, and calibration.
- Practice safety methods and procedures, and report all potential dangers, hazards, or unsafe work practices to the supervisor.
- Provide excellent customer service to all clients.
- Assist with laboratory, shop, and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to travel up to 50%.
- Ability to work in industrial settings and outdoors.
- High School diploma through bachelor’s degree.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment, with proven time‑management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of computer software such as MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds several times a day.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Often works outdoors and may be exposed to hot and cold environments and extreme weather conditions, including sunlit, rainy, and windy conditions.
