Civil Engineer

Job Title

Job Summary

Analyze survey reports, maps, and other data to plan and execute projects

Compile and submit permit applications to local, state, and federal agencies verifying that projects comply with various regulations

Perform or oversee soil testing activities

Use design software to plan and design transportation systems, hydraulic systems, and waste/water containment facilities in line with industry and government standards

Perform or oversee, surveying operations to establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction

Present their findings to the public and clients on topics such as bid proposals, environmental impact statements, and various project designs

Manage the design, construction, repair, maintenance, and replacement of public and private infrastructure

Skills and Qualifications

B.S. in Civil Engineering

Construction compliance experience

Experience in preparing plans in AutoCAD

Louisiana DOTD project experience preferred

Work effectively as a team member

Exercise initiative and innovative thinking

Organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Ability to travel occasionally and on short notice to project sites

Ability to walk long distances

Ability to lift 30 lbs.

Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain, sometimes for extended periods of time
