What You'll Be Doing

* Job Summary:

** Generally responsible for performing field surveys and laser scans and preparing drawings to be used for the design and construction of industrial facilities as well as construction staking in the industrial environment. Generally responsible in facilitating the completion of assigned projects and tasks by providing leadership, direction, training, and mentoring to junior staff within the team. This work will be performed under general supervision.  

Short term travel may be required.  
** Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
*** Completing project safely and within required accuracy and timeframe.
* Coordinating with survey team and design team to ensure survey scope is clear and deliverable expectations are met.
* Plan, organize, and lead daily survey activities of assigned staff to meet client, team, and corporate goals. May function in a lead position with respect to actual accomplishment of tasks and/or may function as a technical consultant to other team members.
* Coordinating findings with the work of engineering teammates, clients, and others involved in projects.
* Supervise and assist Survey Technicians in processing field data, preparing 3-D models, preparing surveys/plats, and making revisions as required.
* Calculating heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain and industrial facilities.
* Adhering to existing standards of practice for surveying.
* Conducting surveys to establish legal boundaries for properties, based on legal deeds and titles.
* Establishing construction control points for use in the installation of equipment and materials.
* Preparing sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys.
* Recording the results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.
* Searching legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries in areas to be surveyed.
* Verifying the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
* Function as a primary contact point for the client concerning the surveying aspects of his/her project.
* Review and approve the technical approach to project tasks and the intermediate & finished work product to ensure that they meet objectives.
* Coordinate with applicable government agencies and attend meetings as appropriate to assure that client projects comply with agency regulations.
* Perform initial QA/QC and final review of the project work if surveyor of record.
* Participate in the establishment and implementation of staff training & professional development programs, and lead in affecting daily technical and administrative on-the-job skills training of assigned staff.
* Supervise and lead assigned staff in accomplishing their essential duties related to client and government agency communication.
* React to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
* Estimating and scheduling professional service hours and assessing the progress and quality of survey work. Assist with project coordination/resource allocation.  # Ideal Background

* Education:

** Associate degree in Computer Aided Drafting, Surveying   Geomatics is required. Bachelor Degree in Surveying   Geomatics from an accredited university is preferred.
** Registration:
** Professional Land Surveyor registration is required.

* Experience:

** This position requires 6+ years of relevant experience in land surveying and computer aided drafting.  
** Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
*** Firm knowledge of survey standards and codes.
