A private equity-backed industrial services platform is seeking a hands-on finance executive to help build the accounting and finance infrastructure for a growing business with an active acquisition strategy. The organization operates in a straightforward, asset-intensive environment and is investing heavily in operational improvements, scalable financial processes, and strategic expansion. This is an opportunity to join at the ground level and play a key leadership role as the platform grows organically and through acquisitions.

Purpose

of Your Position

Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP of Accounting & Finance will serve as the senior financial leader responsible for establishing a scalable accounting organization while partnering on strategic growth initiatives. This role combines day-to-day operational leadership with executive-level financial planning, lender relations, and acquisition support. The ideal candidate enjoys building processes from the ground up (including being hands on doing some granular-level work), thrives in lean environments, and is comfortable remaining hands-on while developing a finance team over time.

Responsibilities
  • Lead all accounting, financial reporting, treasury, and cash management activities across the organization.
  • Build and implement scalable accounting policies, internal controls, financial processes, and reporting structures to support future growth.
  • Partner closely with executive leadership on strategic planning, financial analysis, capital allocation, and acquisition initiatives.
  • Manage lender relationships, debt covenant compliance, borrowing requirements, and ongoing financial reporting to financing partners.
  • Develop annual budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and operational performance reporting.
  • Analyze operating costs, margins, and key business drivers to improve financial visibility and support decision making.
  • Oversee sales tax compliance, external audit coordination, and relationships with outside accounting partners.
  • Lead the transition from outsourced accounting support while establishing a long-term internal finance organization.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop future accounting staff as the platform continues to expand.
  • Support financial due diligence, integration planning, and post-acquisition accounting for future acquisitions.
  • Maintain oversight of treasury activities, banking relationships, and payment authorization processes.
  • Create meaningful KPI reporting and financial dashboards to provide operational insights for executive leadership.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • 12+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with in industrial, manufacturing, construction materials, environmental services, infrastructure, distribution, or other blue-collar operating environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing debt covenant compliance and lender reporting.
  • Comfortable building accounting functions, improving processes, and operating in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and internal controls.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, or private equity portfolio companies is highly desirable.
  • ERP implementation or financial systems improvement experience is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and business partnering skills.
