We’re looking for a Revenue Tax Officer to join our Individual Tax Enforcement Division. This position is responsible for answering taxpayers’ billing inquiries and for enforcing the collection of individual income taxes.

• Three years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, tax administration, tax policy or law, management analysis, or administrative services in a financial setting; or
• Six years of full‑time work experience in any field; or
• A bachelor’s degree.
• Experience substitution:
  Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university is credited as one year of experience toward the six years of full‑time work experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience.

• Receive and respond to incoming telephone calls and correspondence pertaining to tax‑due notices issued by the Department for business and individual income taxes.
• Assist walk‑in taxpayers with problems or questions regarding tax‑due notices for business and individual income taxes.
• Enforce state revenue laws and assist taxpayers in complying with the requirements of such laws.
• Obtain and analyze financial statements and documentation from taxpayers, accountants, CPAs, and attorneys to determine the taxpayers’ ability to pay.
• Assist agencies with file uploads and data analysis.

• Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, Job Appointment, Detail to Special Duty or WAE.
• Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Revenue Tax Officer 1 or 2.
• Compensation: Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
• Special Entrance Rate (SER):
• Revenue Tax Officer 1 (AS‑612) – $17.79 hourly; $1,423.20 biweekly.
• Revenue Tax Officer 2 (AS‑613) – $19.04 hourly; $1,523.20 biweekly.
• This posting may be used to fill vacancies in other divisions within the Louisiana Department of Revenue within 90 days of the closing date.

A Tax and Natural Disaster Clearance will be conducted on all selected applicants to validate the timely submission of tax returns and payments.

All Revenue employees must adhere to all tax laws of the State of Louisiana. A criminal history records check is required for all applicants who receive and accept a conditional offer of employment before their first day of work.
