About the role
Under the general direction of the Judicial Administrator and in partnership with the courts externalCPA firm, the Dy Finance Director supports the planning, coordination, and oversight of all financial operations of the Court. The role blends operational accounting responsibilities with high‑level financial management, compliance oversight, and strategic planning. This position also includes monthly oversight and review of financial activities in collaboration with the Court’s external CPA firm, Faulk & Winkler, ensuring strong internal controls, reconciliations, and audit readiness.
Location& commitments
- Office of the Judicial Administrator, 19th Judicial District Court
- Full-time with a 35-hour work week
- Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- On-site in Baton Rouge, Louisiana
- Must be capable of regular and predictable attendance at a specified location in order to perform assigned responsibilities.
- Assist in overseeing all Court and Building Commission financial functions including A/P, A/R, general ledger, payroll, purchasing, and grants.
- Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Direct supervision of the accounting clerk and assists with accurate reconciliations of bank accounts, funds, and financial systems.
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision‑making and strategic planning.
- Coordinate monthly financial oversight and reconciliation review with Faulk & Winkler, addressing findings, improving internal controls, and ensuring audit readiness.
- Assist in preparing and executing the annual operating budget and capital financial plans.
- Monitor expenditures and provide variance analyses and financial forecasts.
- Support departments with budget adherence and financial planning needs.
- Ensure purchasing processes comply with Louisiana Public Bid Law and internal policies.
- Support contract review, vendor oversight, and purchasing requests.
- Assist in payroll processing as needed, ensuring compliance with laws and internal standards.
- Partner with HR on benefit budgeting, compensation analysis, and long‑term personnel cost projections.
- Help manage grants, special funds, and judicial expense accounts.
- Track compliance, reporting, and application support for grant opportunities.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Finance Director.
- Support training, cross‑training, and development of finance staff.
- Assist in developing internal controls, policies, and financial procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting or closely related field
- 2-3 years of proven experience in financial management or a related field, demonstrating strong financial acumen.
- Experience in conducting detailed financial analysis and reporting.
- Strong skills in general ledger reconciliation and account reconciliation processes.
- Ability to forecast financial trends based on historical data and market analysis.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
