Position: Actuarial Analyst (I, II, or III)

Position Summary

We are hiring an Actuarial Analyst to join the Actuarial Services team, and we are open to hiring at the level I, II, or III based on experience and qualifications. This role supports the organization's mission by ensuring health plan products are accurately priced, financially sustainable, and compliant with regulatory requirements. Through actuarial analysis, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic pricing support, the position helps deliver affordable, competitive healthcare solutions while maintaining the organization's financial strength and commitment to its members.

Qualifications

All Levels:
Bachelor s degree in actuarial science or related field. Four years of related experience may be used in lieu of bachelor’s degree. Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong technical writing skills preferred. Experience in actuarial uses of Excel software required and proficiency with SQL preferred. Actuarial Analyst I:
Working knowledge of access software preferred. Actuarial Analyst II: 2 years of actuarial analyst experience or equivalent required. Healthcare experience preferred. Expert in actuarial uses of Excel software required. Actuarial Analyst III: 4 years of actuarial analyst experience or equivalent required. Health insurance experience preferred. Expert in actuarial uses of Excel software required. Mastery of one of the following is preferred: actuarial value calculations, regulatory filings, benefit pricing, reserving/valuation, trend analysis, risk share arrangements, actuarial projections or renewal rating.

Actuarial Analyst I:
Credit for 1 actuarial exam preferred. Actuarial Analyst II:
Credit for at least 3 actuarial exams preferred. Actuarial Analyst III:
Credit for at least 4 actuarial exams preferred.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Maintains methods, systems, models and assumptions designed to project premium and claim amounts per member for the purpose of ensuring that budgeted pricing targets are as precise as possible. Maintains pricing methods, systems, models and assumptions designed to achieve targeted premium levels and ensure that a fair and appropriate premium rate is provided for each member. Communicates pricing changes to Underwriting, Marketing, Information Technology and Actuarial Systems departments and oversees testing of systems output to ensure that the correct price is implemented for each member and that benefit options are accurately quoted.

Maintains methods, systems, models and assumptions used in estimating actuarial liabilities to ensure that these elements of the financial statements are as accurate as possible. Provides pricing support to the Marketing Development department to ensure that new products and benefits are adequately and competitively priced and that pricing is consistent with actuarial principles. Provides support to the Underwriting Department to promote underwriting practices that are consistent with actuarial principles.

Prepares regulatory filings to ensure that the company is in compliance with related laws, regulations, and actuarial standards.
