Personal Financial Counselor, Assignment Ready Counselor, PFC, Louisiana

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage in short‑term, surge, and on‑demand situations arising from military needs such as post‑deployment events or covering absences of counselors.
• Deliver the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families at military installations.
• Offer one‑on‑one counseling, consultation with commanders or other providers, briefings, presentations, and referral resources.
• Work closely with installation and branch Points of Contact to assure that the program is within scope and meets installation needs.
• Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
• Develop and distribute informational financial materials.
• Coordinate and publicize a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes and workshops covering the military lifecycle.
• Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling and electronic communication modes such as web‑based chat, secure video teleconference, or other electronic means as authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
• Manage duty‑to‑warn situations in accordance with Department of Defense protocol.
• Communicate with leadership, participate in supervision, share trends and issues on assigned installations, and attend in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
• Perform any other duties assigned within the scope of the role.

• Bachelor’s degree required; associate degree plus 4 years of experience or high school diploma plus 6 years of experience may be considered.
• Minimum 3 years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizen, fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract.
• Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
• Pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• Certification required:
  Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Grade: 24.

Salary Range: $58,440 - $93,500 (may vary by location and experience).

Position may be eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
