Personal Financial Counselor, PFC, Baton Rouge, LA

Job Overview

This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations, including counseling, education, and management services for service members and their families.

• Deliver personal financial counseling services, including one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, presentations, and referrals to external resources.
• Consult with commanders, staff, and installation points of contact to ensure services meet installation needs and remain within scope.
• Assist service members in creating spending plans for extended absences.
• Develop and distribute informational financial materials.
• Coordinate, publicize, and conduct Personal Financial Management classes and workshops on military lifecycle topics.
• Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling or electronic communication modes when authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
• Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol.
• Communicate with leadership and participate in regular individual and group supervision, sharing trend and issue information.
• Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, and other contract activities as assigned.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree required; or associate degree with 4+ years experience; or high school diploma with 6+ years experience.
• 3+ years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizen who speaks fluent English; bilingual English/Spanish if contract requires.
• Ability to obtain a Tier 2 security investigation.
• Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• Must hold one of the following certifications:
  Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

• Salary Range: $58,440 – $93,500 (based on location and qualifications)
