This vacancy is located in the State Office Child Support Enforcement Unit in Baton Rouge, LA.
The incumbent in this position is responsible for monitoring and performing a range of highly complex financial functions for the statewide IV‑D program. This position requires independent decision making and extensive knowledge of federal regulations, state laws, and policies. This position is required to offer expert advice and resolution concerning complex financial matters to statewide agency personnel, other government officials, custodial and non‑custodial parents.
Qualifications- Five years of experience in child support enforcement;
- Six years of full‑time work experience in any field plus two years of experience in child support enforcement;
- A bachelor’s degree plus two years of experience in child support enforcement;
- A master’s degree plus one year of experience in child support enforcement.
Experience Substitution
:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full‑time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. - Research and process child support payments.
- Provide expert advice to the Centralized Collections Unit.
- Instruct the Customer Call Center concerning calls from custodial parents.
- Process U unidentified and N no debt suspense money/payments.
- Submit ON DEMAND requests to run Lottery payment file.
- Develop and design spreadsheets.
- Work cost recovery fee report for interstate payments.
- Research and credit child support cases accordingly.
- Perform other duties as assigned for the smooth operation of the Department.
Appointment Type
:
This position may be filled as a probational appointment or a job appointment that may last up to 48 months. Job appointments may convert to probational appointments. Also, it may be filled as a detail and promoted within 12 months or by promotion of a permanent classified employee.
Work Schedule
:
Typically, work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and are dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts.
