Our MissionThe mission of Corrections Services is to enhance public safety through the safe and secure incarceration of offenders, effective probation/parole supervision, and proven rehabilitative strategies that successfully reintegrate offenders into society, as well as to assist individuals and communities victimized by crime. The Probation and Parole Officer is responsible for supervising and investigating criminal offenders through the provision of probation, parole, and pardon assigned to the district office.

- Three years of experience in corrections or law enforcement; OR
- Three years of continuous active military duty (all Military Occupational Specialties apply); OR
- Six years of full‑time experience in any field; OR
- A bachelor's degree.
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full‑time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
Special Requirements- Applicant convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
- Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.
- This position requires the incumbent to handle and carry firearms.
- Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
- Supervise felons and misdemeanants through counseling and referrals to community resources on social adjustment problems.
- Enforce conditions of supervision and perform all aspects of the violation process under close supervision.
- Conduct criminal justice social background investigations of offenders and make recommendations for various decision makers in the criminal justice system (e.g., courts, parole board, pardon board, the Office of the Governor).
