This posting is to fill an Investigative Specialist 1/2 position within the Investigative Support Section of the Louisiana State Police. Investigative Specialists assist local, state, and federal law enforcement partners with case support and investigative leads, conduct threat analysis, perform open source research, and share relevant information with public and private sector partners and stakeholders as it relates to public safety in Louisiana and nationwide.
The position requires rotating shift work, including weekends and holidays, and extensive hands‑on training, public speaking, analytical writing, and answering phone calls from the public and other agencies.

- Three years of law enforcement, investigatory, or gaming regulation experience; OR
- Six years of full‑time work experience in any field; OR
- A bachelor's degree.
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience toward the six years of full‑time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience.

An applicant convicted of a felony or under indictment on a felony charge is disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
Job Duties- Maintain awareness in areas of concern to the State Police: highway drug interdiction, fugitive apprehension, legalized gaming, illegal gambling, narcotics trafficking, traditional organized crime, Asian organized crime, Russian organized crime, motorcycle gangs, street gangs, domestic terrorism, international terrorism, and environmental crimes.
- Perform analysis and assist investigators in collecting, compiling, and analyzing case‑specific intelligence or criminal investigative reports, recommending investigative directions.
- Research and analyze intelligence or investigative reports, public documents, and departmental and commercial databases; disseminate time‑sensitive information to investigators, road personnel, and management.
- Conduct general background investigations on persons or businesses applying for gaming licenses within the State.
- Act as an affiliate between the Louisiana State Police and other state, local, and federal law‑enforcement and criminal justice agencies, providing tactical and strategic analytical support.
- Provide analytical support to local, state, and federal agencies investigating violent crimes, money laundering, narcotics crimes, and missing or exploited children.
