This position serves as an operations assistant to the Probation and Parole Program Managers and the Administrative Program Manager in the Headquarters Fugitive/Warrants section. It provides advanced operational and administrative support for NCIC operations, interstate extradition, fugitive recovery, offender location activities and internal investigations for the Division of Probation and Parole. Duties require strict adherence to NCIC policy, extradition statutes, and Division procedures, as well as extensive coordination with local, state, and federal criminal justice partners.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Three years of experience in administrative services; OR
  • Six years of full‑time experience in any field; OR
  • A bachelor's degree.
  • EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
    Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience toward the six years of full‑time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
Job Duties And Other Information
  • Assists Probation & Parole Program Manager in oversight of the Division of Probation and Parole’s involvement with the DOC Internal Investigation Unit for all matters relating to Probation and Parole.
  • Creates NCIC warrant packets from documents submitted through shared drives.
  • Conducts background checks on prospective and current employees.
  • Runs rap sheets and verifies information associated with warrant entries.
  • Assists with logging all necessary statistics and requests for transport into the appropriate database for tracking.
  • Assists in processing validations for all warrants entered into NCIC.
  • Provides district offices with a list of all warrants that must be validated each month and tracks the completion of this list by each district.
  • Answers all NCIC inquiries “hits” via teletype correspondence from local, parish or federal law enforcement agencies to ensure wanted parole violators are detained for extradition; provides arrest information to P&P districts as necessary.
  • Reviews incoming requests to flash warrants to ensure they are certified and extraditable.
  • Utilizes the FBI’s N‑DEx system, as authorized, to assist in locating probation and parole violators by reviewing law enforcement records, booking data, and related criminal justice information.
  • Analyzes N‑DEx data in conjunction with NCIC and other systems to support fugitive apprehension efforts.
  • Prepares and disseminates authorized NCIC teletypes or notifications based on N‑DEx findings to request apprehension or placement of holds on offenders.
  • Communicates relevant N‑DEx information to Division management, district offices, and law enforcement partners.
