Step into a leadership role that safeguards the quality of public health testing across Louisiana! The Louisiana Office of Public Health is seeking a Public Health Laboratory Scientist Technical Master to serve as a Quality Assurance Officer
, overseeing CMS CLIA Quality and Certification Programs for OPH Laboratories. In this high-impact position, you’ll drive compliance, strengthen quality systems, lead internal audits and training, coordinate proficiency testing, and champion continuous improvement across laboratory operations.

Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure through the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, with preference given to those experienced in CLIA-certified laboratory quality systems and leadership and experience supervising and/or managing testing in a CLIA certified laboratory.

A bachelor s degree in a biological, environmental, or chemical science plus four years of experience in a biological laboratory, chemical laboratory, or environmental laboratory; OR

A master s degree in a biological, environmental, or chemical science plus three years of experience in a biological laboratory, chemical laboratory, or environmental laboratory; OR

A doctorate in a biological, environmental, or chemical science plus two years of experience in a biological laboratory, chemical laboratory, or environmental laboratory.

SPECIAL SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check and/or security clearance, including but not limited to those required for the Federal Select Agent Program and the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners license requirements.

For positions which involve processing and analysis of human specimens and/or the generation or interpretation of laboratory results that may be used in the diagnosis or treatment of a disease or condition in humans, the incumbent must have a current license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist Generalist (CLS-G) or a Clinical Laboratory Scientist Specialist (CLS-S) issued by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners (LSBME).

A temporary license to practice as a CLS-G or a CLS-S issued by the LSBME shall fulfill this requirement only for the limited time granted by the LSBME. The incumbent is required to satisfy the requirements for a CLS-G or CLS-S permanent license prior to the expiration of the temporary license. • Oversees implementation of CMS CLIA compliance activities for the LDH OPH Laboratory
• Establishes and maintains quality policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements
• Implements and manages the laboratory quality management system
• Maintains and controls quality system documentation and records
• Conducts internal audits to evaluate compliance and identify improvement opportunities
• Trains laboratory personnel on quality assurance and quality system procedures
• Coordinates inter-laboratory proficiency testing and monitors performance for continuous improvement
