Position: Monitor Technician - Full-time - Night

JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION

Observes cardiac monitoring equipment to identify rhythm changes. Job is performed to meet the needs for the age population served, as defined in the department's scope of service.

Job Functions
  • Observes cardiac telemetry monitors for changes in heart rhythm.
Performance Standards
  • Consistently utilized Lead II lead placement for monitoring.
  • Identifies and documents cardiac rhythm every 8 hours and documents rhythm changes as they occur with correct interpretation.
  • Monitors all equipment every shift and documents 100% of the time.
  • Responds to emergency patient situations appropriately and following department protocols.
  • Notifies nurse of any cardiac changes.
  • Correctly uses and maintains proper function of Telemetry equipment.
  • Correctly sets up new or existing patients 100% of the time.
  • Obtains admission and discharge monitor strips on all Telemetry patients.
  • Follows proper procedure for malfunctioning Telemetry monitors per hospital policy and procedure.
  • Participates in the admission and discharge processes.
  • Communicates all pending admissions to the appropriate unit staff 100% of the time.
  • Receives and assists patients and visitors to the unit in accordance with SHARE values.
