Position: Pharmacy Technician 2 - Retail PRN Premium

Pharmacy Technician 2 – Retail PRN Premium (FMOL Health)

The Pharmacy Technician 2 works under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, assisting with compounds and dispensing medical prescriptions. The role may also involve clerical duties related to the department, such as receiving and storing incoming supplies, verifying stock, and entering data into the computer to maintain inventory records. The position requires meeting state certifications and has mastered all Pharmacy Tech 1 requirements, with additional specialization in IV, automation, narcotics, and other areas.

Familiarity with pharmacy concepts, practices, and procedures is essential, and the technician must rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, perform a variety of complicated tasks, and may lead and direct the work of others.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Tasks
    Complete the medication ordering process by entering data into the computer, reviewing and interpreting prescriptions, assisting the pharmacist in filling containers with prescribed medication amounts, typing prescription labels, and attaching labels to containers following the general dispensing format. Ensure that all medication-related work is reviewed and checked by a pharmacist.
  • Assist in the processing of all wholesale orders, placing merchandise on shelves and maintaining proper inventory control.
  • Maintain proper supplies for filling all orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Make deliveries to patients at bedside, ensuring customer satisfaction while collecting necessary documentation and payment for medication.
  • Charge medications dispensed accurately to insurance companies and patients.
  • Complete all assigned daily tasks and assist others when time permits.
  • Quality/Service
    Respond to incoming calls politely, efficiently, and in a timely manner and direct calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Process patient charges for pharmaceuticals efficiently and promptly, credit and return to stock any medication not used by patients, and accurately record narcotic charges to ensure high-quality pharmacy services for all patients.
  • Observe and adhere to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures, following all safety, quality assurance, and infection control standards.
  • Interpersonal Relations / Other Duties
    Communicate and work with others to ensure safe and effective service.
  • Expeditiously resolve any communication deficits with other health care professionals and co-workers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
  • 3 years of pharmacy experience
  • High school diploma
  • Pharmacy Technician Certificate (state appropriate)
