Steel Fabrication Facility – Supporting 200+ Shop Employees (UKG Ready HRIS)
Position OverviewThe HR Generalist will play a vital role in supporting the Human Resources and Payroll functions of our steel fabrication facility. This position ensures accurate and compliant payroll operations while assisting with day-to-day HR activities, employee relations, and workforce support. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and able to collaborate effectively in a dynamic manufacturing environment. A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required;
equivalent work experience will be considered.
- Coordinate and assist with employee onboarding at the Amite facility
- Maintain and track shop employees’ attendance point system across both locations.
- Assist employees and managers with UKG system questions, including logins, PTO, benefits, and timecard approvals.
- Support benefit enrollment by assisting employees with enrollment processes and documentation.
- Maintain hourly employee schedules within the UKG Ready HRIS system.
- Investigate employee complaints and concerns in a timely, confidential manner
- Provide general HR support and assist with other assigned HR duties as needed.
- Review and verify timesheets, attendance records, and wage calculations to ensure accuracy, including ensuring timely approval of weekly timecards.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, garnishments, and related matters in a timely and professional manner.
- Process contract workers’ weekly timecards to vendors for accurate billing.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred.
- 2-5 years of HR experience in a generalist or similar role
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Familiarity with payroll processes
This position is based at a steel fabrication facility and may require occasional interaction on the shop floor. The HR Support Specialist will work closely with HR, finance, and production teams to ensure seamless payroll and HR operations across multiple locations.
