Position: Education Information Consultant 1/2/3-AAA

Overview

This position is located in Baton Rouge, LA. It is on the Data Reporting team within the Division of Data Strategy & Governance in the Office of Assessments, Accountability, and Analytics. The Education Information Consultant supports the Louisiana Department of Education’s data request system for internal, external, BESE, legislative, and public record requests.

The candidate serves as the primary or secondary user‑support contact for the LDOE Data Request System, managing communication and training with LDOE, Local Education Agencies (LEAs), Early Childhood Centers, and ensuring data delivered to requesters is accurate and error‑free. They provide highly technical assistance and advice to stakeholders on submissions and act as a departmental data representative through written and oral communications.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the data warehouse for the Division of Early Childhood Operations, providing informative data metrics to stakeholders.
  • Provide technical assistance for internal and external Early Childhood stakeholders.
  • Consult on and test system enhancements prior to production implementations.
  • Design and produce technical reports using Access, Excel, Power BI, Sheets, and other tools, emphasizing Early Childhood education data.
  • Extract and compile data from LDOE-supported data systems to produce reports or electronic databases.
  • Design analytical methods and produce technical support to LDOE offices to facilitate program studies.
  • Analyze statistical data, compile reports, and complete projects as requested by agency management.
  • Maintain records; prepare and analyze reports; create data visualization products tailored to department needs.
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding and application of data calculations and methodology.
  • Professional‑level experience in Power BI, Microsoft Excel, and Google Sheets.
  • Experience with Early Childhood data systems.
  • Three years of experience in data management; or six years of full‑time work experience in any field; or a bachelor’s degree.
  • Each 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university counts as one year of experience toward the six years of full‑time experience, up to a maximum of four years (120 semester hours).

Position‑Specific Details

Appointment Type:
Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The position requires regular reporting to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment if selected. This position participates in a Career Progression Group, with vacancies potentially filled at Education Information Consultant levels 1, 2, or 3 depending on experience.

Work Schedule:

Monday‑Friday; specific hours to be determined.

Compensation

The salary will be based on qualifications and experience. The position has a Special Entrance Rate of $20.07 per hour.
