BI Solutions Modeler​/Designer

Job Description

A Business Intelligence Solutions Modeler/Designer works under limited supervision to analyze and design analytical data integration solutions that include both structured and unstructured data, develop and manage metadata from analytical data stores and data access tools, and monitor and manage data quality. The ideal candidate will promote the value and potential of BI across the enterprise, understand how information is used to drive strategic and tactical decisions, and anticipate the information needs of the business.

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent Business degree/work experience
• Minimum 7 years of experience in Business Intelligence, specifically with structured and unstructured data analysis, solution design, and metadata management
• Strong analytical, conceptual, and technical skills; ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Deep understanding of source data, including strengths, weaknesses, and semantics
• Extensive experience with various data modeling paradigms for both structured and unstructured data
• Extensive experience with various data querying languages such as SQL and HiveQL
• Minimum 5 years of experience with Vertica/Teradata databases or tools
• Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica is a plus
• Experience with Hadoop environment (including Hive, Impala, Sqoop, Spark) is a plus
• Experience with scripting tools (e.g., Unix shell, Python, Ruby, PHP) is a plus
• Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools (e.g., OLAP, metadata management, reporting tools)
• Extensive client‑facing skills with the ability to lead customer/business user meetings as appropriate
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong partnering and teamwork skills
• Flexibility, diplomacy, and problem‑solving skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the enterprise from executives to developers across the organizational spectrum
