Position OverviewThis full‑time, 12‑month tenure‑track position is focused on computational biology and data science within the Department of Plant Pathology and Crop Physiology. The appointment is 80% research and 20% teaching, with expectations to build a hypothesis‑driven research program that leverages data science to address plant pathology and large‑scale data analysis challenges. Opportunities exist for collaboration across the university, including the College of Agriculture, College of Science, and LSU AgCenter research stations.
TeachingDuties
Teach one introductory undergraduate/introductory course in computational biology/data science each year and develop one advanced graduate‑level course to be taught every other year. Act as a major advisor and serve on advisory committees for Ph.D. and M.S. students.
Qualifications- Ph.D. in plant pathology, plant biology, data science, computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, statistics, breeding, or related field.
- Postdoctoral experience (ABD candidates considered).
- Strong proficiency in computer programming and big data management.
- Experience in data science methods such as informatics, data mining, machine learning, AI, remote sensing, GIS, statistics, large‑scale data visualization, or image analysis is desirable.
