Overview
The Cybersecurity Engineer / Lead is responsible for the design, operation, and continuous improvement of Cajun's cybersecurity program and technical security controls. This role serves as the primary technical owner for security operations, vulnerability management, identity protection, endpoint security, and incident response.
The position works closely with Infrastructure, End User Services, Business Applications, and business leaders to reduce risk while supporting Cajun's operational needs and continued growth.
Responsibilities

Security Operations
- Own day-to-day cybersecurity operations and technical security controls.
- Monitor security alerts, investigate suspicious activity, and coordinate incident response.
- Manage vulnerability identification, prioritization, remediation, and reporting.
- Maintain security monitoring, endpoint protection, email security, and related security platforms.
- Develop and maintain security procedures, response plans, and technical documentation.
Identity & Access Security
- Establish and maintain standards for identity, authentication, privileged access, and account security.
- Partner with IT teams to improve user provisioning, access reviews, and termination processes.
- Support implementation and management of MFA, conditional access, privileged access controls, and related technologies.
- Identify and reduce excessive, unnecessary, or outdated system access.
Security Engineering & Risk Reduction
- Evaluate the security impact of new systems, technologies, integrations, and infrastructure changes.
- Partner with Infrastructure and End User Services to improve network, cloud, server, and endpoint security.
- Drive remediation of identified risks, audit findings, and security gaps.
- Develop security standards that balance protection, usability, and business requirements.
- Support third-party security assessments and vendor security reviews.
Security Leadership & Awareness
- Support Cajun’s cybersecurity maturity by aligning security practices with recognized frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Controls, and applicable CMMC requirements.
- Serve as Cajun's technical subject matter expert for cybersecurity.
- Provide guidance to IT staff and business leaders on cybersecurity risks and controls.
- Coordinate security awareness, phishing testing, and employee security education.
- Track security metrics and communicate significant risks, trends, and priorities to IT leadership.
- Maintain awareness of emerging threats and recommend appropriate improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, infrastructure security, systems administration, or related technology roles.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft security technologies, Active Directory/Entra , endpoint security, identity management, firewalls and [JD1.1]network security.
- Experience with vulnerability management, security monitoring, incident response, and security control implementation.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to translate technical security risks into practical business recommendations.
- Able and willing to report to the Baton Rouge main office 5 days per week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting a geographically distributed or field-based workforce.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, Defender, Intune, SIEM, EDR, or similar enterprise security platforms.
- Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, Security+, CISM, GIAC, or Microsoft security certifications.
