Courtroom Security Deputy

Job Summary

Provides security within the courthouse and judicial areas to ensure the safety of the public, staff, inmates, and judiciary. Responsible for screening, inmate custody during court proceedings, maintaining order, and enforcing court security procedures in compliance with agency policy and applicable law.

• Secure courtrooms and related areas prior to public access
• Screen persons and property entering courthouse using security equipment
• Monitor metal detector and x-ray screening stations
• Escort, restrain, and supervise inmates during court proceedings
• Maintain courtroom order and enforce judicial directives
• Conduct searches and maintain custody control procedures
• Process court paperwork, warrants, and inmate movement documentation
• Monitor holding cells and maintain inmate accountability
• Operate control center systems and surveillance equipment when assigned
• Enforce prohibited item restrictions and document violations
• Respond to disturbances, emergencies, and arrests ordered by the court
• Maintain professional conduct and ensure constitutional rights are protected

• POST certified law enforcement officer
• Knowledge of search, restraint, and inmate handling procedures
• Ability to interact with judiciary, attorneys, and public professionally
