Grounds/Porter

Reports to:

Property Manager

Purpose:

A Porter is responsible for a wide range of tasks related to the maintenance and upkeep of buildings and facilities.

Basic Functions

- Perform general facilities maintenance tasks, including cleaning and sanitizing designated areas
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Empty trash cans and dispose of waste properly
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenishing supplies as needed
- Dust and wipe down surfaces, including windows, furniture, and fixtures
- Assist with setting up and breaking down rooms for events or meetings
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisor when restocking is needed
- Follow established safety protocols and use personal protective equipment as required

The ability to lift at least 40 pounds or more
Interpersonal skills
Mechanical skills and knowledge to work and fix various industrial equipment
Knowledge of how to use guest booking software platforms
Familiarization with the essential security regulations
Great verbal communication skills to interact well with other employees, guests and service providers

Skills

- Knowledge of industrial cleaning techniques and equipment operation
- Ability to operate buffing machines to maintain floor surfaces
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
- Good communication skills to interact with colleagues and customers in a professional manner

Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or GED

Previous general maintenance experience

Driving/Traveling
Rotation "on-call" status may occasionally require expedient travel to assigned property at a moment's notice. Must have reliable transportation to meet this need. Other traveling might include needing to purchase small supplies to finish a job.

1. Lifting and carrying (supplies, replacement parts, ladders etc) a. 1-25 lbs:

Lifting and carrying weights exceeding 50 lbs is often accomplished with assistance from one or more persons, or a dolly. Examples of heaviest items lifted include washer/dryers, refrigerators, A/C units, abandoned sofas, etc.

Equipment/Machinery/Tools
An employee in this position must be knowledgeable and skilled in the safe use and maintenance of the following tools:

1. Hand tools- various wrenches, hammers, saws, snips etc.
2. Power tools- sanders, drills saws etc,
3. Use-Moved Aids- dollies, wheel barrows, buckets, stepladders, full ladders, double ladders etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
