We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to oversee and enhance the safety protocols for our fleet operations, ensuring a safe work environment and compliance with all safety regulations.

Job Description

As the Safety Manager at CH Management, you will be responsible for managing and implementing safety programs specifically for our fleet of drivers, plant personnel and office administrators. This role requires a deep understanding of DOT/FMSCA and OSHA regulations, strong leadership skills, and a proactive approach to driver safety and risk management. This role does require travel, both locally and nationally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    Manage DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA compliance, including driver qualification files, MVR checks, drug/alcohol testing, and Hours of Service (HOS) monitoring.
  • Training &

    Education:

    Create and deliver safety training programs, including onboarding, defensive driving techniques, and emergency response procedures.
  • Incident Management:
    Investigate accidents, incidents, and near‑misses, determining root causes, implementing corrective actions, and managing claims.
  • Performance Monitoring:
    Utilize telematics, dashcams, and fleet management software to monitor driver behavior, coaching drivers on improvements.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    Maintain accurate records for audits, including DVIRs (Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports) and safety performance metrics.
  • Safety Culture & Policies:
    Develop and enforce company safety policies, conduct audits, and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Required Skills
  • Knowledge of Regulations:
    In‑depth knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Communication:
    Strong interpersonal skills for training, coaching, and dealing with stakeholders.
  • Data Analysis:
    Ability to analyze safety data, accident trends, and ELD metrics to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize recordables.
  • Safety Management Certification:
    Candidates possessing one of the following accredited certifications are preferred:
    Certified Safety Manager (CSM) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
  • OSHA Certification: OSHA 30.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Occupational Safety, Transportation Management, or a related field is preferred (relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience in safety management, particularly in the transportation, fleet management or site construction industry. Previous experience with Ready Mix Concrete, Power Generation, HVAC rentals or building materials is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards specific to commercial vehicle operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and develop effective safety solutions.
  • Proficiency with safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and travel to different job sites as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends as needed.
