Manual Machinist – Baton Rouge - Air-Conditioned Shop
FULL-TIME/LONG-TERM/EVALUATION HIRE
Monday – Friday 7 am – 3 pm
Pay $15-30 / hr + to start DOE
Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing agency, is currently seeking a reliable and hard-working Manual Machinist for a local client in
East Baton Rouge Parish.The primary responsibility will beputting parts together for assembly and utilizing power tools to assemble mechanical seals.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES for Manual Machinist:
- Set up and operate manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and other machine shop equipment to manufacture and repair precision components.
- Machine individual parts and components used in mechanical seals and related industrial equipment
, supporting manufacturing and repair operations. - Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, specifications, and work instructions
. - Perform turning, facing, boring, drilling, threading, tapping, milling, and other machining operations.
- Calculate dimensions and determine proper machining speeds, feeds, tooling, and setup requirements.
- Use micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, depth gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions.
- Machine parts to specified dimensions and close tolerances while maintaining required surface finishes.
- Inspect completed work to ensure parts meet specifications and quality requirements.
- Set up tooling, fixtures, work holding devices, and cutting tools for individual jobs.
- Perform repair and rework of existing components when required.
- Identify worn, damaged, or out-of-spec components and determine appropriate machining or repair procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation associated with completed machining work.
- Keep machines, tooling, and the work area clean and properly maintained.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment problems when necessary.
- Follow established quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures
. - Work closely with other machinists, technicians, inspectors, engineering personnel, and shop leadership to complete jobs accurately and on schedule.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
- Teamwork Orientation with organizational skills and basic math skills
- Ability to use power tools
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work overtime as needed
