Position Overview

Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) is seeking a creative and data-driven professional to lead content and audience engagement initiatives across digital platforms. The Audience Engagement Specialist (Public Information Officer) position develops and executes strategic content for social media, newsletters, and web platforms to increase reader and viewer engagement, while leveraging analytics to refine strategy and grow audience reach. The ideal candidate collaborates across editorial, marketing, and product teams to align engagement efforts with organizational goals, actively manages community interactions, and represents the LPB brand with professionalism and impact.

Strong communication skills, experience in digital marketing or journalism, and proficiency with social media and analytics tools are essential.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Four years of experience in public relations, journalism, marketing, content creation, social media management, or graphic design; OR
  • Six years of full-time experience in any field plus one year of experience in public relations, journalism, marketing, content creation, social media management, or graphic design; OR
  • A bachelor's degree plus one year of experience in public relations, journalism, marketing, content creation, social media management, or graphic design; OR
  • An advanced degree in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, or English.
Experience Substitution

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties
  • Create, plan, and execute engaging content across social media, newsletters, and web platforms to increase audience growth and engagement.
  • Analyze digital metrics and audience insights to evaluate performance and refine content and engagement strategies.
  • Develop and implement audience development initiatives that expand reach and strengthen relationships with existing viewers and supporters.
