The Philanthropy Officer for Leadership Giving is responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of individual donors and prospects with the capacity to make philanthropic investments ranging from $1,000 to $25,000 in support of the organization's mission and strategic priorities. This role focuses on building authentic donor relationships, executing personalized cultivation and stewardship strategies, and securing annual and multi-year commitments through meaningful engagement.
Serving as a frontline fundraiser, the Philanthropy Officer partners closely with clinical leaders, volunteers, and foundation colleagues to connect donors to high-impact giving opportunities that advance patient care, programs, and community health initiatives.
Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in philanthropy, business, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or CFRE (Certified Fund-Raising Executive) certification, preferred.
- Significant job-related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of leadership and/or major gift experience in a nonprofit, healthcare, or educational setting.
- Experience working in healthcare or hospital philanthropy preferred.
- Experience managing a Grateful Patient Program or similar healthcare philanthropy initiative preferred.
- Fundraising Expectations
- Manage a portfolio of leadership donors and prospects with the potential to contribute gifts of $1,000 to $25,000, with annual performance goals currently ranging from $500,000 to $750,000.
- Achieve annual fundraising and engagement metrics that will be established collaboratively with the Chief Philanthropy Officer during the annual planning and performance review cycle. Metrics may include revenue goals, proposal activity, donor engagement activity, and growth benchmarks that adjust as the portfolio evolves and new opportunities emerge.
- Demonstrate year-over-year growth in leadership giving revenue, leadership donor acquisition and retention, and pipeline strength.
- Contribute to multi-year revenue strategies that support the Foundation’s strategic priorities.
- Fundraising & Portfolio Management
- Develop and actively manage a portfolio of leadership donors and prospects with the capacity to contribute $1,000 to $25,000 in outright or multi-year commitments.
- Create and implement personalized engagement plans for individual donors, ensuring long-term philanthropic relationships and continued investment in the hospital’s strategic priorities.
- Utilize the donor database for portfolio management, ensuring all activities and communications are tracked accurately and recorded promptly.
- Oversee the stewardship of all assigned donors and ensure supporters are connected to the impact of their giving.
- Work collaboratively with the CPO, hospital executives, physicians, and board members to engage leadership donors.
- Individual Donor Programs & Hospital Leadership Engagement
- Lead the hospital’s individual donor programs, such as giving societies and donor circles.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and staff to identify and engage potential leadership donors. Provide guidance and training for hospital leadership and clinical staff on introducing philanthropy into patient and family conversations.
- In partnership with the Annual Giving and Donor Relations team, develop targeted donor outreach strategies for patients and families who wish to express gratitude through giving.
- Collaboration & Strategic Fundraising Support
- Partner with philanthropy colleagues to ensure a cohesive donor journey across all fundraising efforts.
- Collaborate with the Annual Giving and Donor Relations team to cultivate leadership donor participation in signature fundraising events and donor engagement experiences.
- Conduct donor research and provide strategic recommendations for prospective major and planned gift donors.
- Represent the Foundation professionally at internal and external events, meetings, and community activities.
- Full-Time
- Monday - Friday
- Must be available for evening and weekend events as needed
