Job Overview
Responsible for maintaining patient safety and providing basic patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Duties include constant patient observation, notifying nursing staff of changes in behavior or status, intervening to maintain safety, and performing functions delegated by nursing staff while adhering to policies and procedures.

- High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred
- Hospital and telemetry experience
- Current state of practice Certification as a Nurses’ Assistant (CNA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, to be obtained within 30 days from hire
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI), to be obtained within 30 days from hire
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent time‑management skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on‑call availability)
- Support the plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of skills verification
- Maintain a clean and safe environment in the patient care area
- Provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas
- Communicate patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members, including multi‑disciplinary teams
- Complete documentation of patient‑related tasks
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy, adapting explanation of services or procedures, and using appropriate communication style
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Medium work:
Exerting 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, 10–25 pounds frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. Physical demands exceed those for sedentary work. Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, and potential hazardous medications or waste may occur. The job requires exposure to communicable diseases.
