Provide Interventional Pain Management services to all patients at a level consistent with Baton Rouge Rehabilitation Hospital (BRRH) mission, vision, and values. Improve quality of life by coordinating patient care processes of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for the age population served, as defined in the department’s scope of service.
Essential Job Functions- Demonstrate proficiency in assessment and documentation of patient status.
- Build rapport and communicate effectively with patients to alleviate fear and stress.
- Confirm identity, verify operative site, surgical procedure, NPO status, and patient allergies.
- Identify baseline skin condition, body mobility, sensory impairments, cardiovascular and respiratory status.
- Assess and report deviations from normal in preoperative diagnostic studies.
- Assess readiness to learn based on patient’s perceptions and expectations of care.
- Identify any spiritual, cultural, and/or philosophical beliefs that may impact care.
- Provide intraoperative nursing care.
- Set up equipment and supplies for surgical procedures based on patient needs.
- Administer and monitor procedural sedation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Implement aseptic technique and maintain a sterile field.
- Monitor physical status, administer drugs and solutions as prescribed.
- Monitor and control the environment, consider assessment info for care plan, and demonstrate individual choice based on patient needs.
- Apply safety devices and conduct instrument counts accurately.
- Manage specimen collection, handling, and disposition per policy.
- Collaborate in fluid management.
- Provide status reports to family/support persons.
- Maintain excellent peer review and patient/family ratings.
- Obtain correct supplies and set up equipment per guidelines, ensuring safety and cost-effectiveness.
- Implement protective measures against electrical, laser, radiation, chemical, thermal, or mechanical hazards.
- Document utilization of supplies and equipment; record devices implanted.
- Demonstrate proficiency in management of patients receiving procedural sedation.
- 1 year nursing experience preferred.
- Current Louisiana Nursing License.
- CPR Certification.
- ACLS Certification.
- Monday-Friday schedule; may vary based on procedural schedule.
- No weekend or on-call duty.
