This position serves as a leader in the provision of patient care utilizing the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. The incumbent effectively delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members; assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes; exhibits sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and religious diversity; and participates in activities aimed toward achieving unit and department strategic goals.

• Effectively use the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
• Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of patients, families, and other disciplines.
• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources and serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
• Use data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Embrace concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale.
• Adapt behavior to the specific patient population and ensure respectful communication and patient privacy.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required).
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (preferred).

Work Experience

• None (required).
• Experience directly supervising or managing others (preferred).

Certifications

• Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice (required).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required).
• Certification in clinical specialty area (preferred).
• Good organizational and time‑management skills and ability to be self‑directed and demonstrate good judgment.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Leadership skills.

Heavy work:
Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue. The incumbent works in a patient care area and may be exposed to hazardous medications or waste.
