Job Overview

This role collaborates to maintain patient safety and provide basic patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. The Associate Nurse Assistant (ANA) provides constant observation of patients, notifies nursing staff of changes, and intervenes to maintain safety. The ANA communicates effectively with co‑workers, patients, families, and visitors, performing all functions delegated by nursing staff while adhering to policies and procedures.

• Support the plan of care as delegated by staff nurses within scope of skills verification.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment in the patient care area.
• Provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned areas.
• Communicate patient care needs effectively with patients, families, and other staff members, including multidisciplinary teams.
• Complete documentation of patient‑related tasks.
• Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and adjusting communication style and explanations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Preferred – High School diploma or equivalent.

• Preferred – Hospital and telemetry experience.

• Required – Current Louisiana Certification as a Nurses’ Assistant (CNA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association, to be obtained within 30 days from hire.
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI), to be obtained within 30 days from hire.

• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent time‑management skills.
• Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g., 24/7, weekend, holiday, on‑call availability).

• Medium work:
  Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work may require walking, standing, or pushing and pulling arm or leg controls.
• Exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue; risk of communicable diseases and hazardous medications.
