American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring AWHONN certification and 2+ years of specialty experience on night shift.
Details- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital environment
- Facility handles 100-200 births per month
- Patient population includes labor, pre-eclampsia, PRROM, and OB ED cases
- 1:2 patient ratio
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:30-7:00)
- Performs C-section circulator duties and initial newborn care
- Utilizes birthing tubs as specialized equipment
- No call-in requirements
- Active RN license (LA state or Compact) in hand upon submittal
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Beginner, and AWHONN Intermediate
- AWHONN Advanced certification preferred
- All certifications must be AHA-issued
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery specialty experience required
- Skilled in labor and delivery management, including assisting with high risk and vaginal deliveries
- Experience with fetal monitoring, including recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Experience administering medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Postpartum care skills including cesarean section, hemorrhage, and pregnancy induced hypertension management
- Up-to-date NURSYS report required within 4 weeks of consideration
- May be assigned to an Emergency Team by the unit manager, requiring the traveler to remain onsite until the event passes or serve on a relief team
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care, including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients
- Two Manager or Supervisor references required to obtain clearance to start (Charge RNs not accepted)
- Orientation held five days a week
- Must live 65+ miles from the facility as local candidates are not accepted
- RTO must be documented on profile and discussed during interview or offer may be rescinded
- Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors at this health system must have a one full year separation before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
