Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking an experienced part-time Asphalt Plant Inspector to perform construction-related inspection and testing activities at asphalt plant operations. The Asphalt Plant Inspector will verify compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) requirements while maintaining established safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties:- Perform testing, observation, and inspection activities in accordance with approved procedures, specifications, and training.
- Inspect asphalt plant operations for compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable LADOTD requirements.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Document inspection findings, field observations, and asphalt-material test results clearly and accurately.
- Perform basic data analysis and verify the accuracy of results before submitting or communicating findings.
- Communicate relevant inspection and testing information to Project Managers and other designated project personnel.
- Prepare inspection reports for review by senior inspectors and Project Managers.
- Assist senior inspectors with project assignments as needed.
- Maintain testing equipment and ensure required equipment calibrations remain current.
- Maintain established quality standards on all assigned projects.
- Follow all safety rules, practices, and project-specific requirements.
- Complete required pre-task planning before beginning work.
Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of experience as an Asphalt Plant Inspector.
- Current Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) Certified Asphalt Plant Inspector – Asphalt Concrete Mixtures (ACM) Plant certification required.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Ability to prepare clear and accurate inspection documentation and reports.
- Ability to perform basic data analysis and accurately communicate testing and inspection results.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to successfully complete a background check and drug screening.
- Must maintain all required certifications and authorizations throughout employment.
- Ability to perform field-based inspection and testing activities in an active construction and asphalt plant environment.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain required testing and inspection equipment.
- Ability to travel to and work at assigned project and plant locations as required.
- Ability to perform job duties while adhering to applicable site-specific safety requirements.
