Position Overview Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking candidates for a Formulation Technician position to join the product development team at a cosmetic manufacturer in Baton Rouge. The overall responsibility of the role is to support the formulation, testing, and development of innovative personal care products for custom and private-label clients. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, a related scientific field, or equivalent experience.
This position is well suited for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who enjoys hands-on laboratory work, problem-solving, and product development. The successful candidate will be a collaborative team player who can interpret experimental results, maintain accurate documentation, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Perform formulation, testing, reverse formulation, and product development activities for a variety of custom development clients.
- Work closely with the VP of Product Development to develop innovative private-label products from initial concept through approved, scaled-up formulas.
- Accurately measure and handle chemical and cosmetic ingredients.
- Prepare daily laboratory batches according to assigned priorities and specifications.
- Prepare documentation for formula submissions, batch specifications, and product development activities.
- Conduct and monitor stability testing on R&D batches.
- Maintain detailed and organized records within formulation and project management databases.
- Submit requests for new raw material samples and assist with testing and release of approved materials.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and fine-tune formulation issues to achieve desired product performance and specifications.
- Perform calculations and assessments required to convert laboratory-scale formulas to larger-scale manufacturing batches.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, a related scientific field, or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience or educational background in cosmetic, food, chemical, or personal care formulation is preferred.
- Strong attention to accuracy and detail.

- Ability to follow detailed instructions, formulas, and established procedures.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
