Role Description

The Postdoctoral Researcher in catalytic polyolefin depolymerization will conduct experimental and theoretical research focused on the development and optimization of catalytic processes for the depolymerization of polyolefins. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and performing laboratory experiments, operating and maintaining relevant instrumentation, collecting and analyzing data, and interpreting results to guide catalyst and process improvements. The role also involves preparing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, presenting findings at conferences and seminars, and contributing to grant proposals and progress reports.

The researcher will collaborate with faculty, graduate students, and other team members, and may assist with mentoring and training of students in research techniques. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Baton Rouge, LA.

Qualifications
  • Strong laboratory skills relevant to catalysis, polymer chemistry, or materials science, including safe and effective handling of chemicals and instrumentation.
  • Demonstrated research experience in chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, or a related field, with a focus on catalysis, polymers, or reaction engineering.
  • Solid foundation in physical and/or inorganic chemistry
  • Proficiency in data analysis, including statistical methods, modeling, and use of scientific software or programming tools (e.g., MATLAB, Origin).
  • Ability to contribute to mentoring activities, such as guiding graduate and undergraduate students.
  • A track record of scientific publications or conference presentations.
  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline (degree completed or near completion at time of appointment).
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and commitment to maintaining rigorous research documentation.
  • Experience with catalysis, polymer processing, orpolymer materials science.
