Job Description:
The Research Security Analyst will lead efforts related to foreign influence risk assessment, international research collaboration reviews, foreign gift and contract disclosures, and compliance monitoring. The role requires a strong understanding of evolving federal regulations, geopolitical risk, and best practices in research security, while supporting faculty engagement in global research initiatives.
** Job Responsibilities
** Research Security & Compliance:
Implement and support institutional compliance with federal research security requirements, including NSPM-33 and the CHIPS and Science Act;
Assist in the development, execution, and continuous improvement of LSU’s research security program, policies, and procedures;
Conduct risk-based assessments of research activities involving international components. (30%) Foreign Influence & Adversary Country Reviews:
Evaluate research proposals, collaborations, and affiliations involving foreign entities, with particular focus on countries of concern;
Conduct due diligence reviews to identify potential risks related to foreign adversary participation, malign foreign talent recruitment programs, and undisclosed conflicts of interest or commitment;
Provide recommendations to leadership on risk mitigation strategies. (20%) International Collaboration & Grants Review:
Review international research agreements, subawards, and grants to ensure compliance with federal and institutional policies;
Assess international collaborations for potential export control, data security, and research integrity risks;
Coordinate with principal investigators and administrative units to ensure appropriate disclosures and safeguards. (10%) Foreign Gifts & Contracts Compliance:
Monitor and review foreign gifts and contracts to ensure compliance with federal disclosure requirements (e.g., Section 117 reporting);
Maintain accurate records and support institutional reporting obligations. (10%) Training & Outreach:
Support the development and delivery of research security training programs for faculty, staff, and students;
Promote awareness of research security risks, disclosure requirements, and compliance obligations. (10%) Collaboration & Coordination:
Work closely with offices including Sponsored Programs, Export Control, General Counsel, and Information Security;
Serve as a subject matter resource on research security issues for internal stakeholders;
Assist with audits, federal inquiries, and institutional reporting as needed. (15%) Other duties as assigned. (5%)
** Minimum Qualifications
** Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy, International Relations, Security Studies, Higher Education Administration, or a related field.
Knowledge of federal research security policies, including NSPM-33 and related guidance, and Louisiana state laws on research security. Experience reviewing international collaborations, foreign funding, or compliance disclosures. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
