R&D Technician
The UOP R&D Manufacturing and Product Technology (MPT) group focuses on the development and commercialization of new catalysts and adsorbents. The MPT supports prototype development, scale-up of new products, commercial trial runs, manufacturing robustness, manufacturing flexibility, capital planning, and procurement issues. Manufacturing and Product Technology is a key interface between R&D, Business and Manufacturing.
Currently, there is an opening for an R&D Technician within the Baton Rouge MPT group. This position will be accountable for supporting product development teams, safely completing lab and semi-works scale experiments, establishing procedures, and improving the semi-works development capabilities. A variety of chemistry, math, computer, mechanical, equipment, and problem-solving skills are essential to succeed and progress in this role. Additional training and skills development may be required to maintain the technical abilities needed to meet the increasing technical challenges for researching, developing, and manufacturing catalysts.
You will report directly to our Sr R&D Manager, and you'll work out of our Baton Rouge, LA location on an On-site work schedule. This is an onsite position working 8-hour shift M-F.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
- Actively contribute to Honeywell's world class Safety goals.
- Perform lab and semi-works scale equipment.
- Participate in trial coverage, respond to technical issues, communicate to site / development personnel, and documenting results.
- Provide technical support on production issues, improvement projects, etc.
- Maintain and operate semi-works equipment in a safe manner.
- Perform or schedule basic routine maintenance.
- Assist with procurement, handling and disposition of experimental materials.
- Recommend procedural and equipment changes to improve processes.
- Analyze and ship raw materials, intermediates and products.
- Document & Communicate results in a clear and concise manner.
YOU MUST HAVE
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work occasional overtime and shift work.

- Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with other departments.
- Maintenance or analytical skills would be useful.
- Some travel may be required to support other sites and joint ventures.
