This Agricultural Laboratory Scientist position is located in the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry's Agricultural Chemistry Program on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge. The role performs complex laboratory analyses on feed, fertilizer, meat, and other agricultural samples to ensure compliance with quality standards, interprets results, and maintains detailed technical reports. Duties include PCR analysis for pathogen detection, microbiology work, and managing laboratory equipment and supplies.
The position may be filled at levels 1, 2, or 3 depending on applicant experience.
- Three years of general laboratory or laboratory research and analysis experience, OR six years of full-time work experience in any field, OR a bachelor's degree
- Valid Louisiana driver's license
- High School diploma or GED equivalency
- Ability to perform complex chemical analyses independently and accurately respond to inquiries
- Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly with occasional lifting up to 40 pounds
- Experience with laboratory equipment operation and hazardous chemical handling
