Shift Sergeant (Assistant Shift Supervisor‑Senior)
Serves as a supervisory leader responsible for shift‑level correctional operations, staff supervision, emergency response coordination, and operational oversight of inmate housing and security functions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Supervise shift operations and personnel
- Conduct operational briefings and inspections
- Assign posts and ensure staffing coverage
- Coordinate emergency response and evacuations
- Review reports and performance documentation
- Monitor facility security integrity
- Oversee inmate movement and discipline
- Direct subordinate supervisors and deputies
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Assume command in absence of Shift Supervisor
- POST certified law enforcement officer (preferred)
- Prior supervisory experience preferred
- Knowledge of correctional operations and emergency response
