Quick Response Officer (QRO)
The Quick Response Officer (QRO) is a highly specialized, top-tier internal security officer tasked with providing rapid, decisive action in response to high-risk security incidents, critical emergencies, or urgent threats across the hospital campus. With expert-level training and operational readiness, the QRO plays a vital role in safeguarding the hospital's staff, patients, visitors, and physical assets. The QRO must demonstrate exceptional situational awareness, rapid decision-making, high-level crisis management, and the ability to remain composed under pressure.
This role demands the utmost commitment to security and safety, operating as the first line of defense in high-stakes situations and requiring seamless coordination with law enforcement and emergency services. The QRO must be available for immediate deployment across campus property and facilities, ready to respond to security threats wherever and whenever needed.
The following are core responsibilities, though not limited to the items listed:
- Rapid Deployment & Incident Response: Deploy promptly across the entire hospital campus in response to high-risk security incidents, leveraging tactical expertise to neutralize threats and mitigate risk to individuals and property. Be available for immediate assignment to various locations as needed.
- Crisis De-escalation: Use advanced de-escalation techniques to manage volatile confrontations involving patients, visitors, or staff, with a focus on minimizing harm and maintaining control.
- Security Patrols: Conduct proactive security patrols across hospital premises, ensuring a visible presence that deters potential security breaches and maintains a secure environment.
- High-Risk Event Support: Lead or assist in emergency operations during active threats, disasters, or hospital lockdowns, providing critical support to safeguard life and property.
- Collaboration with External Agencies: Work in coordination with law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, and other external stakeholders in response to complex, high-risk situations, ensuring a unified and efficient approach to crisis management.
- Operational Excellence: Maintain expert knowledge of hospital protocols, security systems, and emergency response procedures to ensure rapid, efficient execution during incidents.
- Availability for Flexible Assignments: Demonstrate readiness for deployment across multiple hospital facilities and locations, providing flexible support as required by hospital operations and security needs.
- Critical Thinking in High-Pressure Situations: Exhibit proven composure and exceptional decision-making abilities in combative and high-intensity events, ensuring calculated, effective responses even under extreme pressure.
- Stamina and Physical Endurance: Maintain physical fitness and stamina necessary to respond effectively in physically demanding situations, including the ability to perform sustained physical exertion during high-stress or prolonged emergency events.
- Composure Under Physical Exertion: Demonstrate the ability to remain calm, focused, and make sound decisions even when faced with physical exhaustion or extreme physical demands, ensuring safety and control in challenging circumstances.
- Required: A minimum of 5 years of experience in military, law enforcement, or a combination of both, with a proven track record of handling high-stress, high-risk security situations.
- Preferred: Specialized training in Special Operations or Tactical Operations, Crisis Intervention (CPI), Defensive Tactics, and De-escalation Techniques. Certification in advanced crisis response, active shooter response, and emergency medical procedures is highly desirable.
- Required: High School Diploma or GED, with preference for additional certifications or education in security management, law enforcement, or related fields.
- Preferred: Advanced security-related coursework or certifications in tactical operations, emergency response, or law enforcement management.
