DPS Police Senior Officer

The Louisiana Department of Public Safety (DPS) Physical Security section is responsible for protecting State Police facilities, personnel, property, and other critical state assets. The section provides security and law enforcement services to maintain safe and secure environments at State Police Barracks, Headquarters, and other DPS facilities throughout Louisiana.

We are looking for an internal
Senior Officer to support our Physical Security operations. The Senior Officer performs advanced law enforcement and security duties, including security assessments, investigations, emergency response, enforcement of laws and regulations, and protection of DPS facilities and personnel.

An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies:

Following Policies and Procedures: The ability to follow and enforce laws, regulations, policies, and security procedures.

Making Accurate Judgments: The ability to assess security situations, identify risks, and make sound decisions.

Investigating: The ability to conduct investigations, gather information and evidence, and complete accurate reports.

Two years of experience as a DPS Police Officer; OR

Four years of law enforcement experience as a POST-certified peace officer with the powers of arrest.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.

Possession of a current driver's license.

Possession of an active Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.

An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified by the hiring agency until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

As a Senior Officer, you will perform advanced-level law enforcement and security duties that are critical to the mission of the DPS Physical Security section. In this job you will:

• Provide law enforcement and security services at DPS facilities and assigned locations.
• Conduct security inspections and identify potential vulnerabilities and safety concerns.
• Respond to security incidents, emergencies, and other situations requiring law enforcement assistance.
• Enforce applicable laws, regulations, and DPS policies.
• Conduct investigations and complete required reports and documentation.
• Support access control and protect DPS personnel, property, and state assets.
• Coordinate with DPS personnel, law enforcement agencies, and emergency response partners.

Work Schedule
:
Work hours may vary based on operational and security needs and may include weekends, holidays, overtime, and various shifts.

Compensation
:
Starting salary for this position is $20.62 - hourly / $1,649.60 - biweekly / $3,574.00 - monthly / $42,890.00 - annually.

Limited exceptions may be available to applicants who possess extraordinary work experience.
