Position Description

Pay & Bonuses- Hourly Pay: $30.80 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
- Sign‑On Bonus: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days
- Schedule:
Monday – Friday - Hours:
First Shift 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of gasoline or diesel engines, including:
- Routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Diagnostics and repairs (AC, electrical systems)
- Advanced repairs, including major engine repairs, diesel after‑treatment, or automotive fuel injection repairs
- Four (4) years or more of relevant work experience preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- All other certifications required by location
- Ability to perform all T3 tasks
- Advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Basic computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Availability for shift work, weekends, and on‑call duty as required
- Prefer ASE Certification in PM, Brakes, A/C, Electrical, Electronics or ASE Master Mechanic
- Proficiency in operating shop computers and diagnostic equipment
- Must have a minimum tool set and perform vehicle road tests as necessary
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and influence others
- This position requires driving Ryder vehicles. Must obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire.
- Must pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background/motor‑vehicle check (including verification of drug and alcohol status from the past 3 years).
Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor vehicle record checks, a road test, and/or customer‑specific background or badge requirements.
Responsibilities- SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
220) - Complete all OEM online diagnostic scan‑tool software courses required by location fleet mix (completed within 365 days)
- Complete instructor‑led OEM courses to support fleet mix
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including:
- Standard vehicle maintenance
- Preventive maintenance
- Complex repairs with minimal or no support
- Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers/software
- Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine best solutions for roadside breakdowns
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints
- Instruct and advise other technicians on maintenance, repair procedures, and diagnostics
- Coach and mentor other level technicians
- Advise shop management and technicians on shop repairs
- Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
- Other support duties as required to support operations, including service island support
