Position: TRAFFIC CONTROL FLAGGER

Traffic Control Flagger

Diamond D Industries, LLC (DDI) is a women‑owned heavy construction specialist based in South Louisiana. DDI provides clearing, access, site preparation, logistics, and storm response services across North America.

Description

The Traffic Control Flagger ensures pedestrians and vehicles do not interfere with a construction project. The role requires knowledge of standard work zone flagger control references and the ability to apply and identify them.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the flow of traffic around construction sites.
  • Direct traffic using stop‑slow signs and other control devices.
  • Close lanes in case of maintenance and emergency work.
  • Set up traffic cones and signage around the site.
  • Use hand signals to direct traffic flow.
  • Answer questions about detours.
  • Receive and give radio updates to coordinate with road traffic personnel, construction workers, and emergency response teams.
  • Complete site checks and monitor traffic behavior and flow to ensure public safety.
  • Follow instructions from crew leaders, foremen, managers, inspectors, auditors, or officials.
  • Remove barricades, traffic cones, and sign boards after work completion.
  • Perform additional tasks or projects assigned by supervisor.
Required

Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • Power Safe Safety training certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • Ability to obtain Traffic Control Flagger Certification (ATSSA).
  • Knowledge of proper flagging signals, procedures, and standard flagger practices to protect personnel and provide safe, courteous, authoritative directions to traffic.
  • Ability to understand and communicate information.
  • Knowledge of safety and traffic control devices.
  • Knowledge of traffic rules.
  • Proficiency in non‑verbal communication such as hand signals and signs.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of transportation principles.
  • Physical fitness to lift and carry heavy objects.
  • Successful candidates must complete a drug screening and background check prior to employment.
