Job Description
Johnson Controls Inc seeks forward‑thinking talent to join our growing organization.
What you will do- Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items.
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
- Perform HVAC mechanical equipment and controls work on client sites as an apprentice.
- Participate in certified training through the Service Technical Academy to build skills and gain opportunities for recognition, monetary rewards and advancement.
- Develop troubleshooting and customer‑service skills through coaching and mentorship.
- Keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility efficiency, including upselling opportunities.
- Prepare quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
- Meet attendance requirements for required union training during the first year.
- Must be a member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO.
- 1+ years of industry experience or experience in servicing mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
- Knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques.
- Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and other contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
- Leadership skills to support the activities of mechanics working on non‑complex, non‑critical mechanical HVAC equipment on a job site.
- Self‑starter with the ability to eventually work independently.
- Prioritize safety in all forms.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Preferred: 1‑2 years of trade school or college in a technical emphasis.
- Hourly rate: $16.50 (determined by the CBA/rate sheet).
- Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
- This is a Bargaining Unit Position.
