Field Engineering Manager - Structured Cabling & Low Voltage

Lead field engineering support across complex data-center, telecommunications, and technical infrastructure projects, serving as the bridge between design intent, field execution, installation quality, testing, and turnover. This hands-on leadership role gives superintendents, foremen, leads, and project teams the technical direction, documentation, and problem-solving support needed to execute correctly the first time.

The best fit is a technically strong low-voltage or structured-cabling leader who can interpret drawings and specifications, resolve field installation issues, standardize execution, coach field teams, and maintain consistent quality across multiple active projects.

Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Schedule:

Full time; schedule flexibility and occasional travel based on project demands

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical resource across multiple structured-cabling, telecommunications, low-voltage, and data-center projects.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, schematics, scope documents, revisions, and installation packages for constructability, risk, and technical accuracy.
  • Guide superintendents, foremen, leads, installers, and technicians on design interpretation, pathways, installation methods, labeling, testing, documentation, and quality.
  • Resolve issues involving copper and fiber infrastructure, telecommunications rooms, racks and cabinets, pathways, grounding and bonding, terminations, system performance, and cross-trade coordination.
  • Coordinate RFIs, submittals, revisions, design changes, and technical clarifications with project managers, customers, designers, quality teams, and commissioning teams.
  • Participate in preconstruction planning, scope validation, risk identification, execution planning, work packaging, testing plans, and turnover planning.
  • Perform field walks and technical reviews to confirm compliance with approved drawings, specifications, customer requirements, manufacturer instructions, and BICSI/TIA/ANSI standards.
  • Support copper and fiber testing, validation, deficiency resolution, commissioning, operational readiness, closeout documentation, and final turnover.
  • Develop field-engineering procedures, technical standards, checklists, installation details, lessons learned, and quality-control practices.
  • Coach field personnel to improve technical judgment, installation consistency, documentation, and first-pass acceptance.
  • Identify recurring problems and lead standardization, corrective action, and continuous improvement across projects.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of field engineering, structured-cabling, telecommunications, low-voltage construction, or technical project-support experience.
  • Experience with in data centers, mission-critical facilities, or similarly complex infrastructure environments.
  • Strong knowledge of copper and fiber cabling, telecommunications spaces, pathways, racks/cabinets, labeling, testing, documentation, and related low-voltage infrastructure.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, specifications, details, submittals, RFIs, and design revisions.
