SITECH Louisiana is seeking a highly motivated Bench Technician to join our Service Department.

The Bench Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, calibrating, testing, and preparing construction technology equipment including UAV, construction tools, GPS receivers, displays, control boxes, radios, lasers, total stations, machine control systems, and related components. This position plays a vital role in ensuring our customers receive reliable, high-quality technology solutions that maximize uptime and productivity.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electronic troubleshooting skills, enjoys solving technical problems, and takes pride in delivering exceptional quality and customer service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and test construction technology equipment.
  • Perform bench repairs on GPS receivers, displays, control boxes, radios, lasers, robotic total stations, tablets, sensors, and related accessories.
  • Install firmware, software updates, and equipment configurations.
  • Perform equipment calibration and functional testing to manufacturer specifications.
  • Complete pre-delivery inspections prior to customer shipment or installation.
  • Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and warranty information.
  • Utilize diagnostic software, electrical testing equipment, and manufacturer service documentation to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Assemble, disassemble, clean, inspect, and repair electronic and mechanical components.
  • Supports the Rental Department by inspecting, preparing, testing, configuring, and maintaining rental equipment to ensure timely availability and customer readiness.
  • Assist Field Service Technicians with equipment preparation and technical support.
  • Manage repair inventory and coordinate parts ordering when necessary.
  • Be an available subject matter expert offering technical advice to internal and external customers.
  • Actively stay current on all brands and products serviced.
  • High level knowledge of calibration systems, including collimators, voltage regulators, scopes and other types of electronic measurement instruments.
  • Familiarity with Spectra, Trimble, Nikon and other construction and survey instruments preferred. Familiarity with as competitive brands from Topcon and Leica is a plus.
  • Must be detail oriented and be a team player.
  • Must be able to provide customer technical support by phone, electronically and provide follow‑up to customer questions.
  • Participate in control of inventory and recommend needed stock to enable the service of equipment in a timely manner
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience
  • 2+ years of experience repairing electronic, electrical, or GPS equipment preferred.
  • Experience with heavy equipment, construction technology, machine control systems, surveying equipment, or agricultural technology is a plus.
  • Experience with Trimble products is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to repair precision electronic equipment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with GPS, GNSS, machine control, laser, or surveying equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to use multimeters, electronic test equipment, and calibration tools.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems.
  • Ability to learn proprietary Trimble software and diagnostic applications.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to work with small electronic components and hand tools.
  • Ability to distinguish colors for wiring and electronic diagnostics.
  • Occasional travel may be required to assist field technicians or support customer needs.
