Role DescriptionThe Alarm System Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Area. This position is responsible for assessing customer properties, determining security needs, and designing customized alarm system layouts that meet safety and compliance standards. Daily tasks include conducting on-site evaluations, creating system plans and drawings, selecting appropriate equipment, and collaborating with installation teams to ensure accurate implementation.
The role also involves explaining system designs to customers, preparing documentation, and coordinating with sales and service staff to support high-quality installations and customer satisfaction.
- Ability to design residential and commercial alarm systems, including layout planning, device selection, and integration with monitoring services.
- Skills in site assessment, risk evaluation, and understanding of basic building structures and electrical considerations.
- Familiarity with security industry standards, relevant codes, and best practices for intrusion detection and safety systems.
- Proficiency in using design or diagramming tools (e.g., CAD or similar software) to create clear system plans.
- Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to customers and collaborate with installers, sales teams, and service technicians.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort working on-site in varied customer environments and performing physical walkthroughs of properties.
- Prior experience in alarm systems, low-voltage, or security system design is preferred; relevant technical certifications are a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training in electronics, security systems, or related fields is beneficial.
