Job Overview
At the Governor's Office of Elderly Affairs, our mission is to advocate for the needs and rights of the elderly, improve the quality of life for seniors, promote public awareness, intervene in exploitation and abuse, build partnerships with communities, and support intergenerational activities.
We are seeking professionals who can apply their knowledge of adult protective services and social work, with the ability to apply this knowledge in practical settings. The role demands in-depth knowledge of laws and regulations regarding vulnerable adult abuse, social work principles, and issues affecting the elderly and persons with disabilities.

Qualifications- Six years of social services experience; or
- Six years of full-time work experience plus three years of social services experience; or
- A bachelor's degree plus three years of social services experience; or
- A master's degree in social work, a social science, education, counseling or vocational rehabilitation plus two years of social services experience.
Experience Substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience toward the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
Job Duties- Provided direct-line supervision of Adult Protection Specialist through supervisory conferences, case staffing, etc.
- Interprets and oversees compliance with agency, state, and federal policies, such as HIPAA and confidentiality policies.
- Responsible for file maintenance.
- Conducts educational presentations or in-service trainings for community groups, agencies, providers, etc., on adult abuse, neglect, exploitation, and extortion on the role of Adult Protection Services.
Appointment Type: Probationary
Compensation:
- Hazardous Duty-Premium Pay: $2 per hour, for only hours worked, is authorized for all Adult Protection positions for hazardous duty.
- Tiered Longevity-Premium Pay: up to $2 per hour. All eligible full-time classified employees will receive the following for only hours worked based on the current length of employment with the Governor’s Office of Elderly Affairs.
- Employed 0 months to less than 2 years: up to $1.00 per hour
- Employed 2 years to less than 4 years: up to $1.50 per hour
- Employed 4 years or greater: up to $2.00 per hour
Travel: Extensive travel to East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Pointe Coupee, West Baton Rouge, West Feliciana, Ascension, Iberville.
