Introduction

As an Intern at IBM, you'll work alongside experienced professionals to help solve real-world business challenges through technology, innovation, and consulting. This internship is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience that prepares students for a potential full-time career with IBM Consulting upon graduation.

At IBM, you’ll learn from experienced technology professionals while gaining hands-on experience with modern software development and consulting practices.

• Collaborate Across Teams:
  Work with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, define technical solutions, and contribute to project delivery.
• Design & Document Solutions:
  Contribute to technical documentation and design discussions to support effective communication and collaboration.
• Build High-Quality Software:
  Contribute to the development of scalable, reusable code and participate in code reviews and software quality practices.
• Develop Modern Applications:
  Contribute to cloud-native and full-stack applications using technologies such as databases, operating systems, cloud platforms, and modern UI frameworks, with a focus on user experience, performance, security, and quality.

As part of our Oracle practice, you may contribute to enterprise applications and business solutions supporting finance, supply chain, procurement, human resources, and digital transformation.

You don’t need experience with every technology listed above. Many interns join IBM with a foundation in computer science, software engineering, or related technical disciplines and develop specialized expertise through mentorship, structured learning, certifications, hands-on projects, and AI-enabled tools.

Throughout your internship, you’ll gain exposure to software engineering, cloud technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Dev Ops, Agile, and enterprise application development, while working with experienced engineers, architects, and technology professionals on real client projects across multiple industries.

High-performing interns may be considered for full-time Associate opportunities following graduation, based on business needs and individual performance.

Bachelor’s Degree

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Interest in software development, application engineering, cloud technologies, Artificial Intelligence, automation, or digital transformation.
• Basic understanding of programming concepts and experience with at least one programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, C++, or similar technologies.
• Basic understanding of software development principles, object-oriented programming, algorithms, data structures, databases, APIs, and problem-solving concepts.
• Exposure to software development, web development, cloud technologies, databases, or technical problem-solving through coursework, academic projects, hackathons, student organizations, research, open-source contributions, personal learning, volunteer experiences, IBM Skills Build, certifications, or other practical learning opportunities.
• Awareness of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, automation, cybersecurity, and modern software engineering practices.

• Exposure to software development, cloud technologies, web applications, enterprise platforms, or modern application development through coursework, student projects, hackathons, research, open-source contributions, or internship experiences.
• Familiarity with Git, APIs, databases, Agile development, Dev Ops concepts, cloud platforms, user interface frameworks, or software engineering best practices.
• Interest in Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing, automation, enterprise application development, consulting, and continuous learning.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with teammates while supporting application modernization and digital transformation initiatives.
