Position OverviewOperate a power‑driven drawbridge and/or navigational lock, perform preventive maintenance, prepare bridge logs, and document bridge openings and closings in response to marine vessel signals.
Minimum QualificationsNo experience or training is required.
Job Duties- Operate power‑driven drawbridge(s) ensuring safe operation consistent with Coast Guard regulations and DOTD policies. Train lower‑level bridge operators.
- Prepare bridge logs documenting openings and closings. Use marine radio to communicate with vessel operators. Conduct visual inspections to ensure safety. Report mechanical or electrical problems and take corrective action.
- Lubricate operating machinery, check fluids, and change oil in emergency generators. Collect information and prepare reports documenting marine and vehicular collisions and damages. Clean the interior of the bridge house and maintain surrounding grounds area.
